An industry veteran, Russ brings more than 20 years of professional hospitality experience to his role as General Manager at the Boar’s Head Resort. He arrived in Charlottesville several years ago after a highly successful stint as General Manager for the 6,000-acre Callaway Gardens Resort, located in Pine Mountain, Georgia.
Russ immediately infused the Boar’s Head resort with his passion to support Charlottesville’s local military, police and their families. A strong supporter of Gratitude Cville, the resort also makes regular in-kind donations to auctions for both the Charlottesville and Albemarle County police departments. The Boar’s Head has hosted both Police Departments annual fund-raising events and is proud to be the 2021 host site for the Albemarle County Police Foundation’s annual Guardian’s Gauntlet Run, an event very similar to a “Tough Mudder”. The resort looks forward to hosting this unique event for many years to come.
When asked why he’s so passionate about supporting our military and police, Russ shared: “As Americans, we take for granted all that our military and police do for us daily, keeping both our country and our local cities safe. Every opportunity we have at Boar’s Head to honor and help them, we will.” Russ credits his Grandfather, a veteran who served in Viet Nam with infusing his passion for support. Russ believes “the resort’s efforts are a way to show our small token of appreciation for our military and police and we look forward to doing so for years to come”.
Each month, “The Freedom Fund” Board of Directors will choose a FOF award winner to be featured on Gratitudecville.com. Winners will get a trophy and sometimes a monetary award.
