“The Freedom Fund” is proud to announce Blue Star Families of Central Virginia as the December 2018, “Friend of Freedom” award winner.
Blue Star Families of Central Virginia is a tight knit team of local mothers committed to working to support our veterans, military members, and their families. One of their more important outreach missions is the shipment of CARE packages to deployed service members throughout the year. Since their inception in 2004 they have shipped more than 5,200 CARE packages to service members deployed throughout the world. Following are just a few of the many thanks they have received from recipients of their CARE packages:
· “This is my third deployment and during this rotation I had the opportunity to serve in both Iraq and Afghanistan. While I admit it was difficult to leave my family, your thoughts and prayers helped make my journey easier and I humbly thank you for YOUR support.”
· “Thank you guys (Blue Star Families) for the CARE packages. My whole platoon wanted me to tell you they were very happy to have received something. Some of these guys haven’t gotten any mail since they’ve been here so it meant a lot. Thank you.”
