“The Freedom Fund” is proud to announce the Cathcart Group as the October 2020, “Friend of Freedom” award winner.
Cathcart Group develops, builds, and manages residential and senior living properties. To date, the company has developed over 2,000 luxury apartment homes and senior living facilities.
“One of our core values is to give back to the communities where we do business,” explains Cathcart Group’s CEO, Todd Dofflemyer. The notion of giving back dates to Todd’s childhood when his grandfather “instilled in me how important it is to give back to others when able.” The company’s founder, Rip Cathcart, shares this philanthropic nature, having served on the YMCA Board that was instrumental in bringing the YMCA to Charlottesville, supporting the Senior Center and the Salvation Army, just to name a few. In fact, the company’s primary purpose is “to improve communities and lifestyles,” and the giving back mentality is prevalent throughout the company culture.
“There has never been a time when the police and other responders have not been seconds away.” That is important to our residents and the community. The police and military are near and dear to our entire company. To show our gratitude, we offer a “Service Discount, “equivalent to 10% off the monthly rent, to police, firefighters, EMTs, and teachers (K-12). Todd noted that “anything we can do to help these service providers helps the community.” Living and working in a safe community is critically important for everyone’s freedom and success. Cathcart has high participation in their “Service Program” and provides assistance to police officers on a case-by-case basis in special circumstances. Recently, two police officers needed immediate housing due to urgent personal situations, and Cathcart Property Management was able to accommodate their needs. We want these officers to live in the community they serve. It promotes safety and security for everyone to have these officers as neighbors. The Cathcart Group also proudly sponsors the Albemarle County Police Foundation. “We love cops” and are grateful to help all first responders and active military in the communities where we do business.
